Interested in gaining experience with proactive media relations and crisis communication? We are seeking three enthusiastic, professional and forward-thinking student interns to join the AKCG team from January 11 to April 30. If interested, please see full position descriptions below. Account Team Intern 

Purpose 

AKCG is seeking two enthusiastic, professional and forward-thinking students to join its account team from January 11 to April 30, 2021. You will work directly with the AKCG team to support clients through a number of efforts, including proactive media relations and social media management. Additionally, you will work closely with AKCG’s internal marketing team to help develop and implement efforts to market agency offerings to potential clients. This may include curating content for and analyzing data related to AKCG’s social media channels and website, helping develop AKCG’s internal newsletter or supporting AKCG’s new-business efforts.

Due to COVID-19, this internship will be conducted remotely. However, should the AKCG team return to an in-person workplace, those candidates may have an opportunity to finish their internship in person.

Position Benefits 

  • Gain experience in managing multiple deadlines for numerous clients 
  • Learn the process of media pitching from start to finish 
  • Build your portfolio by writing articles, news releases and media pitches for AKCG clients 
  • Provide input on strategy and develop content for AKCG’s social media accounts 
  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions to improve client offerings and internal agency marketing 
  • Better understand the inner workings of agency function and operation and client service 

Position Requirements 

  • A senior pursuing bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field 
  • Superior command of grammar and AP style 
  • Excellent organizational and timemanagement skills 
  • Flexibility to shift between numerous accounts, projects and efforts throughout the day
  • Access to reliable computer and internet
  • Graphic design experience a plus

Duration 

Weekly schedule will accommodate school schedules. Applicants should have availability for 15 hours per week over a 16-week period (January 11 to April 30). 

Compensation 

Internship employment with AKCG is temporary, beginning on or about January 11, 2021, and terminating on or about April 30, 2021. AKCG will compensate interns at an hourly rate of $12.50 per hour, or a total of $3,000, before taxes. Interns are not entitled to and will not receive employee benefits (such as vacation time, health insurance, etc.).

Dress Code 

Casual (while remote) and business casual (in office, if needed).

Crisis Communications Intern 

Purpose 

AKCG is seeking an enthusiastic, professional and forward-thinking student to join its crisis communications and reputation management team from January 11 to April 30, 2021. You will work directly to support AKCG’s crisis communications practice through numerous efforts, including: monitoring and analyzing media coverage of AKCG clients; providing input on communications strategy and messaging; monitoring industry trends; and supporting general account management efforts. Additionally, you may support other AKCG services and offerings, as needed.

Due to COVID-19, this internship will be conducted remotely. However, should the AKCG team return to an in-person workplace, those candidates may have an opportunity to finish their internship in person.
